Student Support Services

Student Success Advisors

  • New students have personal success advisors, someone who is there to assist you, answer questions and guide you through your initial courses via phone, email or live chat.
  • All students are assigned a dedicated, program-specific success advisor, someone who is a specialist in your field and provides personalized support throughout your time here.

New Student Resource Center
The New Student Resource Center provides all the information a new student needs to make his or her first few courses successful. Resources include a get-started checklist, tips on time management, FAQs and more.

MyCampus
MyCampus is a student site built exclusively for American Sentinel University. Part online-learning encyclopedia, part classmate networking site, MyCampus is an online resource designed to help students achieve academic and personal success.

Online library
The American Sentinel online library contains searchable, licensed databases with millions of articles, links to online resources, references, software download sites and learning tools to support students’ academic studies.

Virtual librarians
American Sentinel’s librarians are accessible 24 / 7. These professionals are exceptionally knowledgeable about American Sentinel's degree programs and sources available for research and assignments. All are highly trained in library and research services and many hold Ph.D.s.

Career resources
Through MyCampus, students find links to websites that advise on résumé-writing and interviewing techniques. Also, American Sentinel offers an archive of its own career planning and military career webinars.

How the Courses Work
American Sentinel courses are developed specifically for online delivery. To ensure courses result in maximum learning, our professors:

  • Outline course objectives at the beginning of each course.
  • Use textbooks and resources that are written by academic and industry experts.
  • Guide students every step of the way and are available for students’ questions.
  • Provide lecture notes to students for especially difficult concepts.
  • Utilize discussion questions, self-tests and practice exercises to help students prepare for exams.

Student Portal
MyAmericanSentinel, your personal portal to American Sentinel, provides a centralized location to access courses, announcements, reminders and online communities. It also provides information about financial aid and academic resources such as Moodle, our learning management system, and MyGrades.

Monthly starts for semesters or terms
Classes are eight weeks in length and start monthly. Students enjoy the freedom to manage their schedules within the term (eight weeks) or semester (16 weeks).

There are many options for you to pay for your American Sentinel education, including the following:

Federal student financial aid
Students with financial need may qualify for federal student aid—loans, grants or work study. Our Financial Aid Office is here to assist you determine if you qualify for federal student aid and guide you through the process.

In-house payment plans
You can finance some or all of your tuition costs through our in-house payment plans. Some plans even offer 0 percent interest. The in-house payment plans are financed over nine months for a minimum number of credit hours. Students not fully utilizing federal student aid also have the option to take advantage of our in-house payment plan.

Employer reimbursement
More than 1,300 employers—from Fortune 500 companies to government agencies to manufacturing, retail, health care and financial services companies—reimburse employees for their American Sentinel University tuition costs.
